Bharadwaj - Interview
Each man has his own style of music. What about yours?
With each film I change my style. For example,
my music in Cheran’s Autograph was different
from that of Vasool Raja MBBS. People who had seen
Autograph keep telling me that they were feeling
happy whenever they hear the songs "Mansukkuley Dhagam",
"Ovvoru Pookalumey". I also feel proud that the
film has successfully completed 170 days.
How
was it working for Kamalhassan's Vasool Raja MBBS?
I feel very fortunate
that I am given an opportunity to work for Gemini Film Circuit’s
Vasool Raja MBBS under Sharan’s direction with
Kamalhassan in the lead. There are six songs in the film with
different tunes. I have been receiving the feedback from various
quarters that they enjoyed the songs of the film.
Were you given full freedom to do Vasool Raja
music?
Director Sharan, Kamalhassan and me will always
assemble at the time of composing the songs. In fact, Kamalhassan
praised my composing and for the tunes coming swiftly. This
is the sixth film I am working with Sharan. When Kamal needed
some more input he explained it to me in a simple way. I grasped
it and made some alterations and additions in my tunes to
suit to the tastes of the actor.
How
do y ou
rate your music direction for the Vasool Raja MBBS
film?
Now, after the release of the audiocassettes
of the film, everyone started appreciating my music. This
is the reward I earn for my sincerity. Kamalhassan was telling
me the other day that he had heard many of my songs earlier,
but Vasool Raja’s tunes were fantastic and
something new. I am sure the songs of the film are going to
be a mega-hit.
Have you introduced any new singers
in your film?
I have introduced Sathyan, VNP, Arjun, Tanen
and Grace in this film. Recently, I was in Singapore and I
have recorded a song with the singer Bala Murali Krishna for
the film Ulla Kadathal.
