Q:Did your interest and inclination to dance lead you to become an
artiste or was it vice-versa?
Gautham: My interest towards dancing was totally different; it
was a passion I discovered, something I wanted to do all along my life.
Acting happened along the way. I did not plan for it to happen, it was
something I eventually took up as it came along. And dancing helped me
in my acting career. As I was a dancer it was easy for me to emote, because
basically dance is also a form of expression like acting.
Q: Do you have any dance school
where you train and inspire people who want to become dancers?
Gautham: Yes, I do run a dance school where we teach proper and
authentic Western dancing. It serves as an opening for those who want
to learn more about different forms of dances around the world. The dance
school we conduct is affiliated to a foreign board that is in Australia.
Q: Are you trained in Indian
and Western classical dance?
Gautham: Yes, I am trained in Western and classical dance. I am
still under training; I am doing my grade five in 'jazz'.
Q:
Being an artiste, a TV anchor, a performer of dance, and a choreographer?
Which do you enjoy doing the most? Or what is the order if you like doing
everything?
Gautham: Ok I can be an artiste, a TV anchor, a dancer or a choreographer
I enjoy doing everything as it is related to the media. I enjoy doing
anything and everything as long as it is a part of the media. So there
is no choice of preference or order when it comes to doing what I am doing
now. As long as it is concerned with media I am happy.
Q: Who is your favorite choreographer(s)? What do you like about him/her/them
the most?
Gautham: Favorite choreographer - right now there are many of them.
But if there is one person who has always been on my mind it is Gene Kelly.
Q: How do you feel when people say actor 'Major' Sunderrajan is
Gautham's Dad instead of the other way around?
Gautham: It doesn't matter if I am recognized as the son of 'Major'
Sunderrajan or if he is recognized as Gautham's Dad. The way I am recognized
or acknowledged does not bother me, as it is the fact, the basic fact.
So there is nothing to feel about it.
Q: Are you doing any movies/TV serials as of now?
Gautham: Yes, I am doing a movie with Director Agathiyan called
'Kadhal Samrajjiyam' and I am doing four or five serials along with my
'Thillana Thillana' dance show on Sun TV.
Q: In one of your interviews we heard a pretty interesting narration
from you about you meeting your wife? Is it true?
Gautham: Yes meeting my wife, it is quite a long love story. We
met in 1990 and we got married in 1996, six years of love and then finally
marriage. It is too long to write it down here. It is a long story but
an interesting story. May be some other time. Thank you.
