Kaveri confirms marriage to Surya Kiron- Exclusive Interview

Director Rajiv Anchal launched her in Ammanam Kili the Malayalam film. As a child artiste Kaveri (in Telugul and Kannada film circle she is known as Kalyani) has come a full circle by acting as heroine in the English - Malayalam film Nothing but Life. She has acted in Samuthiram, Kaasi and Punnagai Poove in Tamil and won the Nandi award for her role in Avunu Vaaliddaru Ishtapaddaru in Telugu. She has acted in three films in Kannada. Kalyani talks to Galatta.com at the sets of Kannadi Pookkal in AVM Studios.

Could you tell us about your acting experience with Madhavan and director Rajiv Anchal?
To begin with, I had the opportunity to act in his Ammanam Kili, Malayalam film, specially produced for children. Rajiv Anchal taught me the nuances of acting in that film. It was Rajiv Anchal who invited me to act in his English film Nothing but life and in Malayalam it is remade as Made in USA.

Could you brief your role in the English film Nothing but life?
It is a film about Indians in USA and takes place in an American hospital in USA. I act as a nurse in the film. Madhavan is a patient who believes that I am his childhood friend and starts treating me as his close friend when he is under treatment. But, in reality it is not so. But if he has to recover from his illness the only way is to pretend as his childhood friend. The psychologists also advise me to pretend as if I am his friend. That is how the story goes on. The shooting of the film took place in Albutuerque in New Mexico and the songs of the film were shot in Las Vegas. Thampi Antony produces the film.

How does the director show your childhood days?
When Madhavan goes back to his child days’ flash back the director uses the portions of me as a child artiste from Ammanam Kili. If any one watches the film when it is released I will be appearing as Nurse and as well as Madhavan’s childhood friend.

There was a talk that you are refusing to act in Malayalam films?
I want to act in Malayalam films but I have already given dates to Telugu films. The Malayalam producers came for the dates when I was very much busy in completing Letha Manasulu a remake of the Tamil film Azhagi. Last week only the film was over. This is my eighth film in Telugu.

Could you brief about your Telugu films which have become super hits?
Seshu the remake of Tamil Sethu with Dr. Rajasekar, Avanu Vaaliddaru Ishtapaddaru with Ravi Teja, Kabadi Kabadi with Jagapathy Babu, Dongodu with Ravi Teja, Pellamtho Pani Enti with Venu and Vasantham with Venkatesh have brought me laurels in the Telugu film industry.

How many films have you done in Kannada?
I have done Sambrama with Ramesh Aravind, Chaithratha Chiguru with Kumar Bangarappa and Rama Krishna with Ravichandran which have all become a hit movie.

In Tamil some of your films have become superhits….
I have done in Kannukul Nilavu, Kasi with Vikram, Samuthiram and Punnagai Poovey. I am now acting in Kannadi Pookal with Parthiban under the direction of Shahjahan to be released for Deepavali.

Will you be prepared for glamour roles if it is offered?
I would always prefer to do character glamour roles. I would reject a film if it is going to be ‘exposing’ glamour roles.

There was a gossip that you have married director Surya Kiron?
The marriage didn’t take place yet. My mother and the director’s parents have matched the horoscopes. I can’t say it is a love marriage. Both of us are known to each other and come from the Nair community. If everything goes well then the marriage will take place and the invitations will be sent to all.

Could you tell about your family background?
Last year I lost my father Muralidharan who was a government employee in Thiruvalla in Kerala. My younger brother is doing his VisCom in a Chennai college. My mother is a house wife.
