Q: You are one of the handful of actors around
who take times out of your busy schedule just to have
a yahoo voice conference with the fans of your official
fan club? So which leaves us with the clear fact that
you're quite an Internet savvy person? So who, what
or when did you get influenced to use the Internet technology
as a mode to reach out to your fans?
Madhavan: Actually I am using
Internet for the past four years even before my first
film Alaipauthey. I created my own website to access
and it is very helpful and interesting to me. Whenever
my movie releases I get rewarding comments from my fans,
which I am feeling good about. Yahoo is good especially
the voice message is very good.
Q: With
the constant flow of fan mails via emails, you should
be getting regular warnings in your mailbox? So do you
individually reply to all your fan mails or do you choose
the ones who tend to play around with words, or is genuinity,
or the a/s/l factor? What are the criteria you choose
to reply to you fan mails?
Madhavan: Yes, genuinity
factor is the most important. I used to post messages
to the fan emails especially to those questions that
I had not replied before.
Q: You have
said in one of your interviews that you go online as
a distraught wife and a troubled teenager? Is that an
online exercise for roles you can never take up or just
your imagination running wild there? (lol)
Madhavan: Yes, it is an online
exercise.
Q: What are the chat rooms
you usually visit? And which one do you prefer?
Madhavan: Usually
I prefer to visit Yahoo chat rooms and my own website.
Q: How
often and how long do you chat or interact with your
fans online? Even otherwise, not necessarily with your
fans.
Madhavan: Usually
once in two months I chat with my fans online. Moreover
I used to reply them through emails and post messages
especially when I am out of town.
Q: Would
you call yourself an Internet addict? Ever had the compulsive
urge to check your mails everyday?
Madhavan: Yes,
I like Internet but not an addict to it. Everything
has a limit and overdose is not good in any matter.
Everyday when I get time I use to check the mails and
reply to them accordingly.
Q: What
are some of your id's and profile names which you have
used in chat rooms? [ We give you the liberty of not
having to disclose the id's you are using as of now]
Madhavan: I
use rmaddy2000 and maddy@rmadhavan.com id's in chat
room.
Q: So
how familiar are you with your online vernacular? What
is the favorite pickup line you would use to get the
attention of an attractive female id (just the id) in
a chat room? [If at all you do so]
Madhavan: I
have not indulged with online vernacular. I like to
chat often but due to lack of time I have not learnt
pickup lines.
Q: If
you were to buzz somebody in a public chat room would
you look for an interesting id or a person with a sense
of humour?
Madhavan: Definitely
a person with a sense of humour.
Q: So
do you actually have 'chat friends' or does the fact
that you are a celebrity stand in the way of you getting
a genuine chat friend?
Madhavan: I
don't have specific chat friends in general chats.
Q: Do
you enjoy the anonymity and freedom you get online which
you rarely get offline?
Madhavan: Definitely
I enjoy the anonymity and freedom when I get online.
Q: In
one of your anonymous chat sessions ever tried telling
somebody that they are actually talking to 'the Madhavan'?
If so, did they believe you?
Madhavan: I
usually chat in my own id and naturally everyone knows
that I am Maddy. I don't like to chat in false name.
Q: Most
of us are aware of Madhavan onscreen, but how is Madhavan
online? Give us a hint. Anything predictable about Madhavan
online, just in case one of us gets lucky and bump into
you in cyber space?
Madhavan: If
you see anyone named Maddy and giving funny statements
that is none other than me.
Q: Like
there are always pros and cons to everything, the world
wide web and the internet comes with an option of fulfilling
undesirable purposes being solved with it? It's basically
a virtual reality were most of our youngster get lost?
Most of your fans are teenagers. What would you like
to tell them about the use and abuse of the net?
Madhavan: Ya
most of my fans are teenagers and my advise to them
is that they should take only the good things for the
correct purpose in the Internet. They have to explore
their ideas and view and not physically explore themselves.
They should use the Internet in correct proportion.
The parents and elders should teach them not to take
the negativity of the Internet.
Q: Finally
for the movie buffs who are dying to know about something
about your movie from this interview tell us bout your
next Hindi movie project 'Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar'? The
fact that it was a multi-case movie did not bother you?
Madhavan: No,
since I loved the story of 'Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar' I never
bothered that it is a multi-cast movie. It is a great
privilege for me to work with Mr.Anant Mahadevan. And
my co-star is Namrita and it is an interesting story.
My character name in the movie is Kirsh.
Q:. You
once said "I am aware that I'm being slotted as
a chocolate-boy", 'Indra' of 'Kannathil Mutam in
Tamil [Amrutha in Telugu] was it a deliberate choice
to break this image?
Madhavan: No,
no, not like that, when I like the story I do the movie
and it is a great experience when I do each movie.
Q: A
final wrap of this interview with a few words about
your next movie with Kamal Hassan? What would be the
genre of the movie be?
Madhavan: Actually
the movie is planned to be released in May and it is
a lovely story. The film is based on a travel and nothing
more to tell about the movie now. And it is a great
privilege to work with a great actor like Kamal Hassan. |
