Sakthi, the star born in Thottal Poo Malarum and son of director P. Vasu, is acting alongside Sandya in Mahesh, Saranya Matrum Palar, which will prove to be a love story of different kind just the way Kadhalukku Mariyadhai did a decade ago. Mahesh, Sandya... is not the typical Kollywood love story where there is someone who disapproves the love of the hero and heroine; not even any ego clash between the lovers.
According to director P. Ravi – also the story, screenplay, and dialogue writer of this film – the family of the protagonists celebrate love, unlike most other families in other films. This film is a “feel good” film, in which the simple yet beautiful love story of college boy and a singer is portrayed. There is not an iota of hatred or ill feeling in this film. “All the families who watch this film will long for a son like the male lead in the film and all the lads will feel why their families are not like the family portrayed in the film”, says Ravi.
Half of the film has been shot in Chennai and the rest in Kumbakonam, Thirubhuvanam, and Thiruvadaimaruthoor. Two songs of the film have been shot in Switzerland. The climax scene was shot at Egmore Railway station and now the film is in its post-production stage.
Music has been composed by Vidyasagar and the lyrics are by the eminent team of writers including Pa. Vijay, Na. Muthukumar, Yugabharathi, and Jayanthan Cinematography is by Gunasekaran.
Kadhalukku Mariyadha (starring Vijay and Shalini) with a theme unusual at that time for Kollywood, where the lovers wait for their families' permission to marry, was a huge blockbuster in 1997. Now, with Mahesh, Saranya... promise that there is no one to disapprove the lovers' decision to marry, it certainly sounds a theme unusual to Kollywood and it looks history might be repeated.
