Lawrence Raghavendra is a big name in the film world today. He is a talented choreographer, a successful actor, and a successful director; above all, he is a man with a noble heart. Lawrence runs a home that is a haven to orphan children, the destitute, and old people who have no one to care for them. But thankfully, they have Lawrence.
Lawrence struggled through a path full of struggle and sacrifices to reach his present pinnacle of success. And Lawrence has not forgotten all this. The home he runs is the outcome of his experiences and hurdles he has overcome.
Yesterday, Galatta and the journalist fraternity met with this noble actor. The meeting was convened by Lawrence who wanted to make a public appeal to help a group of 32 children who have heart problems. He has taken the responsibility of arranging medical help and hospital care for these helpless children. He has contributed generously to the pool of money being collected for this purpose. Recently, actor Rajinikanth too pitched in and shared this noble actor’s burden by agreeing to take care of the food expenses of this home, irrespective of its strength. In the photo to the left, you can see a child who had a atrial septal defect (hole in the wall of heart) and has undergone surgery to correct it. He is healthy now and has been saved from the clutches of pain and a certain death. Raghavendra explained how similar operations could help the other children too.
Galatta’s PR Manager Muthu had visited this place and looked emotionally disturbed when he returned to office. He said all other reporters who gathered there were also emotionally effected by the plight of these poor children. The scenes at the press meet, he said, were very emtional. But we have the consolation that these children now have an able care-giver like Lawrence to support them.
But there is a limit to which one person can stretch his or her caretaking abilities. So why don’t we try to put in our share of effort and share this noble responsibility? Even some of your time spent with these children will be of great help.
