Vaal Natchathiram is the Tamil version of Taare Zameen Par directed by Aamir Khan, who recently won the Gollapudi Srinivas Award for his exceptional directorial skills. In the Tamil version, Suriya lends his voice for Aamir Khan’s character.
When Suriya dubbed for this film, he realized how strong and moving the subject is. Moved by the story, Suriya completed his dubbing service without accepting any fee for his work in Vaal Natchathiram. It is a very noble deed on the actor’s part, considering that he is one of the busiest actors in Kollywood and his time is more valuable than money.
When Aamir Khan came to know about this, he was very touched by Suriya’s deed and he gifted him a sleek Macbook Air, the coveted ultra-thin laptop.
Both these actors have developed a high regard for each other over phone conversations they had to discuss the development of Ghajini (Hindi); Aamir Khan usually calls Suriya to know which stunts he did himself and to discuss the same.
