Southern beauty Asin is making waves in the North too. These days, she is mostly seen in clothes designed by the famous costume designer Manish Malhotra, looking very gorgeous in them. The actress, well known for her short, rich and effective language, spoke her mind recently and ended speculations that she plans to settle down in Bollywood.
She said that she sets her own rules and lives by them; she has no intention of settling down in Mumbai. She said that she is not someone who will yield to the glamour and grandeur of Bollywood. She can never forget Tamil cinema which gave her the present status. On her accepting more Hindi films, she said that she has always been judicious when it came to choosing films. She signed any film which she thought would give her career a fillip, not because she wants to establish herself in Bollywood and settle down there. She added that she is always looking to come back to Kollywood; pretty soon, she will sign a very good project. She did not reveal the co-star or producer of that film, saying it would be unprofessional to do so. Before that, she would like to complete the Hindi film that she has signed up. Usually, Asin appears in not more than two films a year. She is very careful in selecting her projects.
She also talked about her experience in Bollywood and the Hindi version of Ghajini. She said that since she is working with the same team who worked on Ghajini in Tamil, she has not yet gotten a complete feel of Bollywood. She also added that contrary to popular belief that Aamir Khan is very reticent and uncooperative with directors, she found him very friendly and very much a director’s actor. She also described how surprised he was when she spoke flawless Hindi with no 'Madrasi' accent. In fact, that is the reason she has become the first Southern star to do dub for herself in a Hindi film – and that is her very first Hindi assignment.
At the moment, she is eagerly awaiting Dasavaatharam’s release and the audience response to it, particularly to her acting. One thing is very noticeable! It is her ever-increasing beauty; Asin seems to be getting more beautiful with every day. We will sure miss this actress until she comes back or until Dasavathaaram is released.
