With a debut performance that was well-received in a critically-appreciated Ammuvagiya Naan, Bharathi should have been smothered with offers, accepting as many as possible. But that is not the course of action she has chosen.
Though hell-bent on making a career out of movies, Bharathi did not jump at the very first offer she got. In fact, she rejected quite a few roles, primarily because they merely required her to be glamorous, not offering her any importance in the movie at all. Not that her Ammuvagiya Naan character lacks in glamour. She defends her stance by saying her role in the movie required a certain amount of glamour, and hence she agreed for the same. Likewise, she vows she will never do a role in a movie if it has no substance.
Bharathi also added that she is not looking only for big-budget movies with top heroes; so long as the story and her role in it appeal to her, she doesn’t bother about these aspects.
Bharathi has now signed up for two movies–Agathiyan’s Nenjahai Kiladhe and Thakkali Srinivasan’s Sattru Mun Kidaitha Thagaval.
