Reliance ADAG-owned Reliance Big Entertainment has launched Big Music and Home Entertainment in an effort to make a significant impact in the music and home video segments. The company hopes to emerge as the dominant player in the home entertainment segment.
The company has already entered this segment by releasing the music and videos of Bollywood films like Dhamaal, Johnny Gaddar, Cash, Khoya Khoya Chand, etc. Down South, the company has released the music for films like Kireedom, Marudamalai, Kannamoochi Yenada and Happy Days.
Big Entertainment has also tied up with Hollywood biggie Universal Pictures to bring English titles to Indian homes. The exclusive license allows the company to release videos of classic films like Schindler’s List, Gladiator, Day of the Jackal and blockbusters like King Kong, The Mummy series and The Fast and the Furious series.
The company releases the recent blockbuster Welcome today, starring Akshay Kumar. Big Music has also acquired the audio rights for maestro A.R. Rahman’s forthcoming film, Ada.
In the non-filmi segments, Big Entertainment has signed up with noted performers like Asha Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan, Jagjit Singh and Ghulam Ali.
A host of Kollywood celebrities, including popular singer Manickam Vinayagam, violinist ‘Kunnakudi’ Vaidyanathan, producers Kaaja Moideen, Swaminathan, ‘Editor’ Mohan, Sivasakthi Pandian and Anbalaya Prabhakaran graced the launch by their presence.
