Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi paid glowing tributes to the late L.V. Prasad during his centenary celebration held yesterday.
L.V. Prasad is the founder of the internationally renowned Prasad Studios and Prasad Film Labs. Starting his film career as an errand boy, L.V. Prasad went on to become one of the leading movie moguls of his time. He was also an excellent director as is evident from his classic Manohara. He was the one who introduced Tollywood legend N.T. Rama Rao.
Talking at the centenary celebration, Karunanidhi said that Manohara was a proof of Prasad’s filmmaking abilities. He also said that Prasad the producer was a man who kept his word.
The event was a grand affair with prominent celebrities like K. Balachander, Mani Ratnam, Telugu producer and Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao, Bollywood actor Jeetendra, Kamal Haasan, Saroja Devi, 'Sowcar' Janaki and Anjali Devi paying glowing tributes to the late filmmaker.
Director K. Balachander said that Prasad was one of the very few men who could make wonderful films in all southern languages. Mani Ratnam said that he was awestruck watching Manohara and mentioned that the classic was fresh and relevant even today though it was made many decades back.
