Are education and success co-related? Some people believe that though education is essential for the integral development of human awareness, it does not necessarily refer to success! They argue that there are many who are not educated but still successful in life. Take, for instance, Bill Gates, a Harvard dropout, who is ranked consistently as one of the world's wealthiest people and the wealthiest overall as of 2009.
So, the secret of success emphasizes a single fact. All successful people have taken a bold step in choosing the path less travelled and they must have put their hard work. Education, of course, shows various paths for success, but it's up to you to choose the right path and achieve success.
Now, let's put the same question before Tamil actor Charu Hassan, popular for his performances in Atharvam and Vachanam in Malayalam, Thabarina Katha in Kannada and Vedam Puthithu and Uthirippookal in Tamil.
Responding to the media reports that the Minister of Human Resources Kapil Sibal is launching a survey of dropouts in higher education, the actor said: "I can give quite a few instances of dropouts to prove that such gathering of statistics will not help proper planning. There is an old joke about a man who took a flight every day to attend to his business and was worrying about the chances of a bomb being carried in the same plane he was travelling. Thought the statistics on chances of a bomb blast in planes might be one every day, it does not mean that you are safe if the blast has already occurred the day earlier!"
"Tollywood’s most successful actor Kamal Haasan is a school dropout from the ninth standard. Another dropout from high school is director Sunder C., who neglected his successful directorial career to become a much more successful star. I am also a dropout from 30 years of legal practice to become a film actor and yet another, even brighter lawyer dropout is Malayalam actor Mammootty, who won the President's medal thrice. Minister Kapil Sibal himself is a successful dropout from the Supreme kind of legal practice for better service to the country. So let’s think of better ways of pursuing aptitude-oriented education," Charu Hassan concluded.
