Oscar Ravichandran and K.S. Ravikumar's magnum opus Dhasavathaaram (also spelt as Dasavathaaram, Dashaavataram, Dasavatharam) promises to be a milestone in the history of Tamil Cinema. The film, starring Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan in ten different avataars and Asin in a double role, is touted to be one-of-its-kind cinema experiences.
Beisde the fact that there are ten Kamals in the film, the entire graphics and special effects in the film are said to be world-class. Oscar-nominated Brian Jennings is handling the SFX for the film. Brian Jennings has worked on films like Exorcist: The Beginning, Scary Movie, Father of the Bride Part II, Mortal Kombat, Vampire In Brooklyn and Mindhunters. He was nominated for an Oscar for his short animation film Technological Threat which he directed.
Talking about his experience while working on the film, he said, "I came here to shoot an American film at Ramoji Film City. I met Kamal and K.S. Ravikumar through one of the film crew guys there. Kamal is very smart, a perfectionist. Kamal and K.S. Ravikumar liked the work I showed them. I never had any issues with them. We have all worked towards making things better, looking for constant improvement. Technically, the film was challenging, especially since we had 10 Kamals in the film. Even though the actor is only one, the logistics are for 10, no two characters can be physically present in one scene."
The same sentiments were echoed by Ravikumar. He said that he watched every frame of the film almost 1000 times. As most of the scenes required more than one of Kamal Haasan characters to be on screen, it was important that there was proper coordination between all the shots taken with each of the characters, when viewed as one scene. He has also been involved with dubbing of this film.
All this makes one very curious about the film. Galatta.com is sure that this will indeed be one of the most exciting cinematic experiences of all times.
