It’s tradition and just cannot be changed! Yes, as every year draws to a close, the film industry is abuzz with activity other than just filmmaking – the roundup. Everyone wants to know who’s on the Who’s Who list for that year – be it films, stars, technicians or songs.
Stargazing being movie-buffs’ favourite pastime, this year too, people across Tamilnadu were asked who they had as their favourites among actors and actresses. This was done by the students of School of Media Studies at Chennai’s Loyola College.
Accoridng to their reports, Rajinikanth continues to be the undisputed Superstar, with 15.6% of the 2,945 respondents voting for him. Asin is the current #1 favourite among actresses, with 14.1% voting for her.
The Superstar was followed by Vijay (14.2%), Vijaykanth (12.6%), Ajith (11.1%) and Kamal Haasan (8.3%). Beautiful Kerala star Asin left other actresses straggling behind: Jyotika (11.8%), Sneha (8.9%) and Trisha (7.5%). Here’s a surprising fact: Simran continues to have her share of loyal fans because she got an overwhelming 6.1% of the votes! “Sim-Sim” as we fondly call her, is still a favourite in Tamilnadu, marriage and son notwithstanding!
