Despite this being the exam season, a spate of films will be hitting the theatres this Friday. Four films - Inba, Sanda, Singakutty and Kannum Kannum, are releasing tomorrow. The four small films will try to cash in on the three day long weekend, thanks to Good Friday which is a holiday for most MNCs.
Here is a short preview on what to expect from these films.
Inba
Bringing together the charismatic pair of Shaam and Sneha, Inba is a love story between an auto driver and a college girl. The film is directed by newcomer Vendhan and has music by C.B. Balaji who is also debuting with this film. After the critically praised but below average run of Thoondil, Shaam is looking forward to Inba for a badly-needed hit.
Kannum Kannum
The dark horse of the lot, this long-delayed film has Prasanna and debutante Udhayatara in the lead roles. After the success of Anjathey and Sadhu Miranda, this is the third film from Prasanna in a span of just two months. Directed by newbie G. Marimuthu, the film is a mature love story that can be enjoyed by family audiences. Vadivelu provides comic relief in this film produced by Screenplay Entertainment.
Sanda
This is perhaps the most commercially viable film of the lot. Director Sundar.C, who has given two above average hits, is the hero. He plays a ruffian who falls for the lovely Ragini. However, the love faces its biggest test in the form of Nadia who is Ragini’s mom. Nadia’s re-entry after M.Kumaran..., Vivek’s comedy, Imman’s peppy music and Sakthi Chidambaram’s proven record are the film’s major plus points.
Singakutty
The film is in the news for the debut of ‘Nadigar Thilagam’ Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson, Sivaji, who is the son of Ramkumar and Meena Ramkumar. Produced by actress Sripriya, the film is directed by A. Venkatesh, a master at the commercial masala genre. Gowri Munjal who made her debut with Thottal Poo Malarum is the female lead. The cinematography is by R.D. Rajasekhar while music is by debutante Prasanna Sekar who has composed for Ram Gopal Varma’s films in Bollywood. The remix of the song ‘Aatama Therottama’ picturised on Malavika and Vivek is said to be the highlight.
