When Amarkalam happened, the two starred together. The sparks that flew onscreen also set a passion ablaze off-screen; the boy-met-girl story we so often see in movies got real. They met in 1999 and were wed in 2000. Shalini withdrew from acting and became a devoted housewife. Devoted she has been to her husband through the most trying times. With Ajith’s career often going through rough patches and health issues cropping up, it’s his darling supportive wife who stuck by him, nurtured him and helped him get over it all.
In January this year, the star couple received the best gift ever in the form of a beautiful baby girl. Named Anoushka, the child came as a blessing and reward to the couple for the kind of unconditional and never-diminishing love they have for each other.
