With her hour-glass figure, luring hips sways and mature acting skills, Simran ruled Kollywood for close to a decade! Simran set the screens ablaze with her sizzling glamour and powerful performances. She debuted in Bollywood with Tere Mere Sapne, but it was down South that she made a big bang. Her Kollywood debut was in Once More with Vijay and Sivaji. But she stole our hearts with her sweetness in VIP opposite Prabhu Deva and Neruku Naer opposite Suriya.
One look at her and you were charmed. It was only natural that she developed into one of the best actresses in the South. With each movie, she looked better and acted with more maturity. She soon proved herself capable of complex characterization. Some of the movies in which her acting received critical acclaim include Vaali, Priyamanavale, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, 12B and Kannthil Muthamittal. Her cameo role in Pithamagan where she played herself and danced to a medley of old Tamil numbers, was much appreciated. Her comic side that surfaced in all her movies ran wild in Pammal K Sammandham and Panchathanthiram, both with Kamal Haasan.
After a great reign in Kollywood, she married her long time friend Deepak Bagga. The two now have a son named Adheep. After a sabbatical from the public eye, the actress is now back. Kollywood offers that were once eluding her, are now knocking on her door. She may not play the lead lady, but she is sure to land some winsome supporting roles, that will of course, win her more accolades. In the meanwhile, she has graced the small screen with her presence. While on one satellite channel she hosts a talent show, on another she acts in mini serials. It’s great have her back!
