Think Vikram and it’s perseverance that comes to your mind. He’s smart, handsome, a great actor, has a way with ladies, inspires men AND is a great guy! Yet it took him quite a while to find his footing in cinema. But now that he has, there’s no stopping him!
Christened John Kennedy by his family and renamed Vikram by cinema, he is today a big name in Kollywood but he started from scratch and made it to the top slowly. He debuted in 1990, appearing in Tamil and Malayalam, but it took him ten years of 'hanging on' before he got his big break. And big it was! Though his 1992 movie Meera did get noticed, it was primarily for its lilting tunes rather than the script, story or cast. In 1997, he landed one of the leads in Ullasam, the other hero being Ajith. As the calm peace loving Dev, Vikram played the perfect foil to the boisterous role Ajith played. But when Sethu released in 1999, Vikram was rediscovered. He almost immediately became one of the top 3 Kollywood stars.
Sethu brought to the fore his latent potential and offers came pouring in. Dhill, Kasi and Gemini came in quick succession in 2001 and his star value increased manifold. Dhool and Samy took him to greater heights and since then, there he stays! Pithamagan, Arul, Anniyan and the most recent Bheema have time and again proven the actor’s skill and passion for cinema. Stills from his upcoming Kanthaswamy only reconfirm the same!
Vikram is undoubtedly an actor who gives pride and joy to Kollywood and we wish him an amazing year ahead!
Happy Birthday Vikram… Remo… but actually Kenny!
