The most famous newsmaker for the past three months, the documentary film by Agaram Foundation and Tamil Nadu Education Board, Herovaa Zerovaa, is complete and is now ready to take off.
It was shown to journalists, film and political personalities on May 15, 2008. This documentary, which has been made to promote literacy, has received the attention that is elicited only by a blockbuster. And when it was shown yesterday, the occasion was not less than any grand premiere of a much-touted movie.
The film, opening with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, concentrates on four main aspects: Child labourers, ignorance of parents, disinterest in studies, and lack of education for women. The stars participating in this film urge the viewers to bring down child labour and illiteracy among women. They also speak on the value of education and urge students not to drop out from school. Suriya, Jyotika, Vijay, and Madhavan have made appearances in this movie to convey the message.
Now that the film is out, the government and film personalities are concentrating on projecting it. The Tamil Nadu government has taken all possible steps to promote this film. The Education and Information departments have teamed up for this cause and are employing all the facilities available to them. Over 500 DVDs of the short film have been burned to be distributed to cable networks. The government also plans to spread the news about this film to every nook and corner of Tamil Nadu by employing IEC vans.
It is very pleasing to see a documentary with a good cause being hyped so much. It only shows how society has matured. They are able to recognize works like these and ponder about the ideas they present. They are willing to grow.
A pat for you, reader, for reading this and pondering over how you can contribute to society. Thank you.
