Actor Sarath Kumar, who was injured while shooting a stunt scene in Malaysia for his forthcoming film 1977, returned to Chennai this weekend. He was accompanied by his wife Radikaa Sarathkumar, who had flown to Malaysia to look after her husband.
The film unit were shooting a difficult stunt scene in one of the Malaysian islands when the accident occurred. The actor strained his hamstring muscle when he was doing a difficult scene with a “round-house” kick sequence. The unit sources immediately rushed the actor to a hospital, where he was treated and advised rest.
Sarath Kumar was seen coming out of the Chennai airport supported by a crutch along with Radikaa Sarath Kumar.
The actor had gone to Malaysia on December 11 for the shoot and was supposed to return to India last Thursday. The unit were shooting some crucial scenes on the exotic islands across Malaysia for the past one month. In between, the actor had also participated actively in the Star Night Shows organised by the Nadigar Sangam in Malaysia and Singapore.
1977, directed by Dinesh Kumar, revolves around the life and adventures of a detective played by Sarath Kumar. Namitha appears as a lawyer who helps the detective.
