Shooting for Padikkathavan is underway. Yes, you heard it right. There is nothing wrong with your hearing or memory; nor have you been transported to 80s. It is just that it has become a fashion for films to be named with older film titles. It is one more addition to the film-naming styles that exist now – the popular being naming the movies with names of the famous songs.
Actor Dhanush is on a high from the success that he has got from Yaaradi Nee Mohini. Now he is moving into his next project, Padikkathavan, with all the fervor. It has been named after a 80s Rajnikanth hit movie which also starred actor Shivaji. This is not the first time that a movie of actor Dhanush bears the title of a yesteryear Rajnikant hit movie. Earlier it had been Pollaadhavan and now it is Padikkathavan.
When asked if he has developed a habit of naming his projects after his father-in-law’s hit movies, he said that it is just a coincidence. Actually, the upcoming project was supposed to be named Padikkatha Medhai, an old Sivaji starrer. But it was unavailable. So they decided to name it Padikkathavan. And he also said that once he named his upcoming film as Padikkathavan, its value went up by two crore rupees – such is Rajnikanth’s charisma. The actor with chiseled features also told that he is playing a vital role in deciding the script of this movie and it is working in his favor.
So, it looks like with the charisma of Rajni lent to the film by its title and with astuteness of Dhanush, there is going to be another hit film in the offing.
