Jackie Chan arrived in Chennai last night and checked into the Taj Coramandel Hotel. He is here to participate in the audio launch of Kamal starrer Dasavathaaram. He was invited by Oscar Ravichandran, who has been distributing Jackie Chan's films in South for a long time and has been instumental in Chan's phenomenal popularity in South India. Jackie Chan was most impressed when he saw the exclusive trailer of Dasavathaaram (exclusively shot to be shown to Mr. Chan and other VIPs). Due to his old friendship with Oscar Ravichandran, Chan agreed to come here and add more colour to this grand event.

When Jackie Chan arrived at the airport, he was given a traditional Indian welcome. Soon after that, he was mobbed by the media personnel. Jackie Chan is famous all over the world, but never has he been subjected to this kind of frenzy. Jackie Chan was pleasantly surprised by all this. It was hard not to notice that childish happy grin beneath that surprised look.
All arrangements to make his stay pleasant and memorable have been made by Oscar Ravichandran. One has to appreciate Oscar Ravichandran for his efforts, taking no chances and ensuring that Chan's visit is truly memorable. It is reported that he has booked an entire floor of Taj Coramandel Hotel for Chan and his personal guards to stay. The cost of Jackie Chan’s visit will be anywhere around Rs. 5.5 crores. Sony BMG, audio owners of Dasavathaaram will pay one crore rupees to share the audio launch expenses. The music rights fetched Oscar Ravichandran Rs. 2.65 crores. It means Oscar Ravichandran still has to shell out Rs.1.85 crores from his personal funds.
