Jaganmohini, a remake of a yesteryear hit Vittalacharya film, has the same sheen and magic. In fact, it has more awe-striking graphics, scenes, and beauties this time. It is a double delight for Jaganmohini aficionados (minus Jayamalini) and a revelation to the younger generation who did not watch the original version or know about it.
The film stars two beauty queens, Namitha and Nila, both famous for their glamour.

Recently, a song was filmed on them, which was witnessed by Ilaiyaraja (this might be the first time that the maestro is witnessing the filming of a song that he composed) at his friend NKV’s request.
This song was filmed in Thirumalai Naicker Mahal in Madurai and involved about 50 beautiful junior artists and “rich girls” (jargon for those who appear in films as a hobby) dressed like celestial beauties (the heroines and other girls indeed looked like celestial beauties!).
This is just a curtain raiser. There is plenty to follow. Like the four magnificent sets to be designed by art director Krishnamurthy. One of them is a grand and magnificent ship to be constructed in the Andamans.
In this film, Namitha is featured as a pearl diver. Therefore this film will contain “breathtaking” underwater scenes, which also means audience will get to see “wet and hot” Namitha. NKV has acquired a special camera for these scenes which will enable the underwater shooting. Some parts of this shooting will take place in the shallow sea near the coasts of Andaman. The rest will take place in a special tank to be constructed by art director Krishnamurthy.
It could not get any better than this. It looks like this film will work the same magic that the original version did about 30 years ago.
