Jai Shankar, the yesteryear actor referred to as the "James Bond of Tamil Nadu", is no more with us. But he lives on through his films and through his son. Dr. Vijay Shankar, Director of Shankar Eye Care, on the occasion of Jai Shankar's 70th birth anniversary on July 12, 2008, conducted a free eye camp for 50 students in collaboration with Lawrence Charitable Trust.
Lawrence Charitable Trust is a charitable organisation which tends to needs of the downtrodden. It is also working towards another mission: It has undertaken the responsibility of the medical care of 36 children who have heart defects. The trust depends on contributions by Lawrence and donations received from benevolent people.
