The official launch of the Telugu version of Rajinikanth’s Kuselan in Hyderabad was a grand affair, a stark contrast to the quiet Tamil launch. The launch was organised by producer Aswini Dutt, whose Vyjayanti Movies is producing the Telugu version.
The guest list included Tollywood big names like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Dr. Rajasekhar, Ram Charan Teja, Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Dr. Chandrababu Naidu, who was the chief guest.
The yet-to-be-titled film stars Rajinikanth along with Jagapati Babu, who dons Pasupathy’s role in the Tamil version. The film will be directed by P. Vasu, who is also directing the Tamil version.
Dr. Chandrababu Naidu praised Rajinikanth during the course of his speech and expressed his awe at the popularity of the superstar even in countries like Japan. He also mentioned that Rajinikanth has a positive energy about him that makes him a really special person.
Megstar Chiranjeevi, who spoke next, informed the gathering that Rajinikanth lifted his morale when he was a bit depressed last Diwali. The Telugu superstar thanked Rajinikanth for his gesture and expressed his compliments to the entire team. He made a special mention of producer Aswini Dut for putting up such a grand event for the film’s launch.
Later, Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao told that he shared a great relationship with the superstar for the past 35 years, right from his initial days in the industry. That he has remained humble till date is an indicator of Rajni’s nobility, he commented. The Union Minister also mentioned about Rajni’s positive energy, calling it a rare phenomenon.
Rajnikanth, during his speech, was at his jovial best. He even took digs at his close friend and Tollywood star Mohan Babu, who had advised him to concentrate on Tamil films instead of Telugu flicks and had also advised him against getting a 1½ acre land on Jubilee Hills which has now become a premium realty zone. The superstar then thanked the guest for their wishes and expressed hope that the film would turn out to be a huge hit.
The film was officially launched with Chiranjeevi sounding the clap board and Dasari Narayana Rao directing the shot; Chandrababu Naidu set the camera rolling.
Some of Tollywood's leading players who attended included producers Allu Arvind, D. Rama Naidu, Parchuri Gopalakrishna, comedian Venu Madhav and Meher Ramesh.
