The demise of Sujatha, a prodigy in his own right, has been a shocker to many of his fans and friends alike. The writer whose works have been brought on the screen too was also involved in writing scripts and dialogues for films. He has worked with many of Kollywood’s big names including Mani Ratnam, Kamal Hassan and Shankar.
The writer has associated with Kamal Hassan in many of the actor’s projects. In fact, Kamal’s Vikram was made out of a Sujatha novel of the same name. The actor has sent out a message condoling the loss the great writer.
In his message, Kamal says that both Sujatha and he were aware that the writer’s end was nearing. “He never considered writing as a chore. It was his love,” says Kamal. “We should not gauge his writing with what he has written for cinema. They were just compromises made by the man for cinema and friends,” adds the actor.
Kamal concludes by saying, “I’m very much indebted to Sujatha. He raised my taste in literature. In fact, I consider anyone who has read Sujatha’s works as having greater reading taste.”
