While the majority of the female leads portray college-going heroines, a growing trend is for the heroine to be portrayed as a journalist.
We are familiar with the hit Telugu movie Anusaya, starring Bhoomika as an investigative journalist. Following this, Kollywood too has decided to offer its leading ladies a few ‘journo’ roles.
In Sathyam, Nayantara is a television journalist opposite Vishal; in Vel, Asin had a similar role opposite Suriya.
Keerat is the latest to bag a similar role. She plays an investigative journalist in Durai alongside Arjun. The movie, directed by A. Venkatesh, started shooting recently.
Keerat has replaced Padmapriya at the last moment in Durai.
