Khushbu has been one of the most forward thinking and progressive actresses in Tamilnadu for over 2 decades. From Varsham 16, which reached a cult fame (and proved the start to many films that resulted in temples being built for her by fans!) to the successful TV game show Jackpot to Kalki, her daily television series and of course, her production houses Avni Cinemax and Avni Telemedia, Khushbu is an example to young actresses – a dynamic woman who has defied the myth that actresses are out of the industry after marriage.
After the success of Stalin (Telugu) and her home production Irandu (Rendu) starring Madhavan, Anushka Shetty and Reema Sen, Khushbu is back in films in an interesting and off-beat role – Maniammai in the film Periyar.
Gnana Rajasekaran’s Periyar is a period film about an important era in Tamilnadu’s history and definitely a non-commercial venture. Khushbu is unperturbed by this saying that she is looking for variety and quality in her roles, as well as the films she herself produces, be they serious and eclectic cinema or fun entertainers.
Look out for a Khushbu special chit-chat – on candid camera with the North Indian actress who has won the hearts of the Tamil people and can speak English, Tamil, Telugu and many other languages with equal ease!
