Actress Khushbu’s brother Abdullah is acting in his debut film, Netru Pol Indru Illai. M. Kousar, who directs this flick, has written its story, dialogues, and screenplay as well. The film stars Priya Sahadev as the leading lady. The supporting cast comprises Manobala, T.P. Gajendra, Vinitha, Kuili, and K.R. Vatsala.
In the black-and-white film era, films based on sorcery and wizardry were very common. The usual template would involve an evil sorcerer trying to conquer the world, sacrificing many innocent lives (preferably virgins and infants) to please the Dark Powers and attain immortality. But in the end, his plans would be thwarted by a dashing prince who would rescue the virgin princess, her baby brother, imprisoned father, etc. Though hackneyed, these films were highly entertaining and most senior citizens today grew up watching and enjoying such masala stuff. It has been years since we have seen such a film based on wizardry.
Now, Netru Pol Indru Illai attempts to revive this genre. It will introduce the younger audience to wizardry and present this long-forgotten genre of films in a manner that they can relate to. Presumably today's SFX will add to the entertainment value.
The film is set in modern times. It is about an evil sorcerer (5000 years old), who plans to please the Evil One and get his blessings by sacrificing four innocent females. Having sacrificed three lives already, he meets the film’s heroine and hero who are lost in the forest he inhabits. How the couple escapes from his clutches will be portrayed in an interesting manner.
