Kireedam is the remake of the National award-winning Malayalam film Kireedam starring Mohanlal.The film marked the entry of Adlabs into Tamil film production. The film marked the debut of director A.L.Vijay.
The film focuses on the father-son relationship, played by Rajkiran and Ajith. The original ending was not popular with the audiences, so it was changed in accordance with public sentiment.
