Manasu is a movie under production. It seeks to create awareness on AIDS.
The movie is a romance that is nipped by the girl’s mother, who then marries off the young girl to a man of shady character. Only a few days after their marriage, he falls ill and is admitted at a hospital, where it is revealed by tests that he has the much-dreaded disease AIDS. Completely distraught by the news, he drowns himself in alcohol and eventually dies. The widowed heroine also tests HIV positive subsequently.
How she moves on in life is what the rest of the plot deals with. Director A.J. Hanifa, who has also done the story, script and screenplay, wishes to warn youngsters about the evils of an amoral lifestyle. The movie is produced by M. Zarina Banu under the banner of Dream Cine Creations.
