Actor Arun Vijay, who was very nearly written off, given the number of dud movies from him, made all the right moves with his last movie Malai Malai. Directed by A. Venkatesh, this neatly packaged commercial movie worked wonders with the audience. Arun is once more in the race, but it’s Maanja Velu that will ensure his spot on the track.
“Soon after Malai Malai was done, we did not sit around and wait for the verdict. Even when the movie was a hit, we did not bask in the success. We had already begun work on our next movie together. Director Venkatesh’s visualization was one of the biggest assets of Malai Malai. That’s another reason why I wanted to work with him once again. Maanja Velu is also an action movie. Maanja is the gluey mix of glass powder and other stuff rubbed on the string of a kite. It is supposed to cut off the string of rival kites, but if you handle it wrongly, it can cut you. That’s my character too. You just don’t rub me the wrong way,” chuckles Arun, who is far from the menacing macho dude he plays in movies when you meet him in person!
