Veteran actress Manorama, who has acted in more than 1200 films, is to be honoured by the entire Kollywood industry on January 14. 2008 happens to be the golden jubilee year for Manorama in Kollywood.
The versatile actress, fondly called ‘Aachi’, will be honoured in the presence of the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who will preside over the function.
The felicitation function will take place on January 14 evening at the Chennai Trade Centre. The gala event will witness a host of Kollywood bigwigs appearing on stage to wish their beloved ‘Aachi’.
Actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will take part in this function along with prominent directors like K. Balachander, Bharathiraja and Balu Mahendra. The top stars will present a memento to Manorama honouring her contribution to Tamil cinema for the past 50 years.
A comedy show by leading comedians has been arranged to pay a tribute to the ‘Comedy Queen’ of Tamil films. Dance performances by actresses Namitha, Sandya, Priyamani, Nila, Thejasree and Sangeetha, along with a musical show by Shankar’s Saadhaga Paravaigal will keep the audience glued to the seats during the entire event.
