Mirugam is directed by Samy whose previous movie was Uyir starring Srikanth and Sangeetha. Mirugam deals with the story of a Iyanar, a man who displays rough feelings. Though his family tries to reform him, Iyanar does not change himself. Finally he faces a situation wherein he is forced to give up his basic nature. His momentous decision to live or die makes the story.
Mirugam is based on Vairamuthu's "Kallikattu Idhigasam". The hero of the movie is Adhi from Tollywood and the heroine is Padma Priya. Karthik has produced this film for Karthik Jai Movies (P) Ltd.
The cast also includes Sona, Ganja Karuppu and Banuchander. Besides this, all the other supporting cast is from the villages nearby. Shooting for Mirugam took place in Kariyapatti near Madurai and the film is almost complete. Release is in September 2007.
