Recently, director Bala decided to reveal some secrets of Naan Kadavul. by giving some information and some scenes in the movie. All these have only fuelled the curiosity of the public.
Bala said that this movie is about the Aghori (also spelt as agori or agory) sadhus, a cannibal group of memdicants, who live on the banks of the Ganges and eat the dead bodies that are let into the Ganges; people of Varanasi and Kasi immerse partially-burnt corpses into the river Ganges. The film also focuses its attention on mentally-challenged people. He said that his film attempts to explore the minds of these sadhus and mentally-challenged people who seem to inhabit a world of their own.
Bala also revealed that while shooting for this film, a sadhu came to their shooting spot after hearing the song 'orumuraiya irumuraiya'. He waited until the song sequence was complete. When Bala went up to him, the sadhu said that the song has touched his heart and he felt as though he was able to understand each and every word in it, even though he did not know Tamil; he had tears in his eyes while he spoke to Bala. The music of this movie is composed by Ilayaraja. Such is the power of music and when Ilayaraja does it, it could never get any better.
Bala also revealed that the movie has a few disturbing scenes to which the Censor Board might object. For example, the movie has a scene where Arya (who plays an Aghori sadhu) is shown eating the dead body of Pooja. He said that he has shot the same scene in a lighter tone, which would be used if the current version is found too graphic by the Censor Board.
Bala also said that the climax fight sequence, which was shot for more than a month, has come out really well, as he expected. He said that it will be one of the most talked-about climax scenes in Indian cinema.
