The heartthrob of Southern India, Nayantara, donated five lac rupees to the Lankan Tamils’ relief fund. She called on Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at his home at Gopalauram yesterday morning to hand over the cheque. She also pledged her allegiance to every action that Nadigar Sangam takes to provide relief to Lankan Tamils. Dr. Karunanidhi thanked her for her contribution and care for Tamils. Nayantara has also confirmed her participation in the Nadigar Sangam’s protest tomorrow.
Apart from Nayantara, there have been contributions from several film personalities. Actor-turned-politician Napoleon contributed Rs. 5 lacs to the Lankan Tamils’ relief fund, while Vivek, Khushbu, and Sundar C. contributed Rs. 1 lac each. Funds are coming in from all corners of Kollywood. It is heartening to see the solidarity of this film industry and their love for Tamil.
