Parthiban began his career in films as an assistant to director K. Bhagyaraj. Pudhiya Padhai, scripted and directed by him, launched him as a hero and director. Pudhiya Padhai was a runaway hit, initiating a different trend in terms of narration in Kollywood. Parthiban became the most sought-after hero and director. He worked in films like Sugamana Sumaigal, Pondatti Thevai, Ulle Veliye and Pullaikuttikkaaran. The film House Full which was produced and directed by him won the National award for Best Regional film for 1998. Bharathi Kannamma and Azhagi are some of the films that brought him great recognition as a performer. Some of his productions like Ivan and Kudaikkul Mazhai got appreciation for their appealing themes. Parthiban also gave a recent hit through Ammuvaagiya Naan. Currently, Parthiban is busy acting. He is part of Vallamai Thaarayo, directed by Madhumitha; he also appears in Vithagan and Selvaraghavan's Aayirathil Oruvan.
