What Blaze is to A.R. Rahman, Premji is to Yuvan Shankar Raja – pet rapper! That’s right, with Indianised rapping catching on fast and ARR and Yuvan incorporating hip hop beats in the composition, rapping has become quite common these days. Just as ARR and Blaze notch up some neat pieces together, Yuvan and Premij explore that line as a team.
Son of Gangai Amaran, well-known music composer, all expected him to take to the same profession. But Premji seemed more inclined to singing and most recently, acting. His role in his brother’s directorial debut Chennai 600028 was rather hilarious. But before we decided he had moved away from daddy’s tracks, we found out that he will debut as music director pretty soon!
Remember Viji, the lead lady in Chennai 600028? Working with her seems to have landed Premji a movie to compose music for! Viji happens to be director Agathiyan’s daughter. And Agathiyan is making a comeback with Nenjathai Killadhe that has Bharathi and Vikranth in the lead. Now we have news that Premji has been signed on to compose music for the movie!
Could this be his true calling? Come on Premji, make daddy proud!
