The Rajini-KB combo has given some great movies, but it’s been quite a while since the two teamed up again. But the latest spice is that Rajini will be acting in a movie to be produced by K Balachander under the Kavithalaya banner.
Rajini who recently watched the Malayalam flick Katha Parayumbol, which was Mamootty’s X’mas offer in 2007, was deeply moved by the story. The movie is about the friendship between a barber in a village and a movie star who comes to that village for a shooting. This moving story on friendship had Mammootty play the movie star and Sreenivasan as the barber. Both actors have given splendid performances and our Superstar was immediate in appreciating Sreenivasan for his acting as well as his powerful dialogues.
And now the word is that Kavithalaya will be remaking the movie in Tamil, which will be directed by P Vasu and will have Rajini play the role played by Mammootty! Pasupathy will play the barber. P Vasu and Rajini joined hands to give the blockbuster Chandrmukhi, which was also a remake of a Malayalam movie. Will they get lucky again? In all likelihood, yes! Furthermore, they will have the surplus resources of KB’s wisdom to tap into as well!
So does that mean Rajini will not star in Shankar’s Robot? Worry not because he will! Mammootty completed shooting for his part within less than a month, so the plan is to get done with the remake before mid 2008, after which Rajini will get completely enveloped in Robot.
Looks like we will have a Rajini movie this year, after all!
