Before the release of Kuselan, Superstar Rajinikanth has promised to create a corpus, a relief fund for the technicians who worked on the movie. The actor fulfilled his promise today at Sri Raghavendra Kalyan Mandapam by giving a cheque for Rs. 20 lakhs to the technicians. The producers of the movie also contributed an equal amount to the cause.

The Superstar used this opportunity to clarify his stand on the apology that he gave on TV wih regards to his earlier emotion-laden comments on the Hogenakkal issue. He said that he had apologized only to those people whose feelings he had unintentionally hurt. He was is no way supporting the anti-social elements. He hoped that this would stop any further discussion on the same.
It may be recalled that the release of Kuselan was stalled in Karnataka, but after Rajni's apology, the film was allowed to be screened. On the other hand, his apology recieved much flak in Tamil Nadu.
