After making a great impact as daddy dearest in Thavamai Thavamirundhu and Kireedom, Rajkiran is now donning the lead role in Malaikkallan. After 12 years of staying away from film production, the acclaimed actor will produced and also direct the film.
Malaikkallan is one of MGR’s famous films in the legendary actor’s career. But, Rajkiran, says that his film isn’t a remake and is an entirely different story altogether. The film is a take on today’s political, societal and economic problems.
Music for the film is by maestro Ilayaraja. The composer had given some memorable tunes with Rajkiran in films like En Rasaavin Manasile and Aranmanai Kili.
There is also another raja (king) who has played a crucial role in Rajkiran’s life. It is none other than the mighty Tipu Sultan. The actor, during his years of misfortune, had visited Tipu Sultan’s fort in Srirangapattinam and was awed by the king who was secular and even had a Vishnu temple in front of his fort. The actor says that he had a spiritual experience during his daily prayer that day. The next day, he came across an elderly person who prophesised that the actor would marry shortly and true to his words his marriage with Hatija Nachiyara took place within a fortnight.
After his visit to Tipu Sultan’s fort, Rajkiran says that his life changed for the better and he got back his happiness. The actor has also named his son Tipu Sultan after the legendary king.
