Shiksha, a social responsibility programme from Procter and Gamble (P&G) in association with Child Rights and You (CRY), has helped educate over 67000 underprivileged children in the four years since its inception.
Shiksha is now back and the organisers are hoping to continue their noble efforts in the years to come. Every consumer who buys a P&G products in April, May and June 2008 will be contributing to educating underprivileged children in India.
Shiksha ’08 was launched in Chennai today by popular actress Ramya Krishnan and danseuse Anita Ratnam. By showing their support to this initiative, the two stars stood up for Shiksha’s message, ‘Padhegha India, Badhegha India’.
Speaking during the function, Ramya Krishnan said that she believed that education plays a fundamental role in shaping a country and its citizens. “Education can be the foundation for an India that we are seeking today. I urge people across India to participate in Shiksha and make a tangible difference in the lives of the little ones.”
