After a barrage of unconfirmed media speculations over Robot, Ayngaran International and Eros Entertainment have finally confirmed that they will be producing director Shankar’s Robot which will have Indian cinema’s biggest star Rajnikanth in the lead role. The music for the film will be composed by whiz kid A.R.Rahman.
The dream team is teaming up again after the hugely successful Sivaji which rewrote the record books by becoming the biggest blockbuster in Tamil cinema. The film was also global superhit and became the first Tamil film to break into the UK Top 10.
As is often the case with any Rajnikanth film, reports that the superstar has been approached and signed up for Robot sent the media into a frenzy last week. However, due to lack of any official confirmation, such reports seemed too good to believe.
Robot is maverick director Shankar’s dream project and is said to be a science fiction film. Initially, Kamal Hassan was reported to be doing the film. However that did not come through. Recently, Shahrukh Khan had accepted to produce and star in the film. However, the project was dropped owing to creative differences between Shankar and Shahrukh Khan. Reports even say that Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan were approached for the lead role.
According to a press release, Robot will be the grand and entertaining film ever made in Indian cinema and will be produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. It will be a high-tech film with state of art technology. Sources say that the budget of the film is expected to cross 100 crores making it the costliest Indian film ever produced.
Director Shankar is currently finalising the cast and crew for this project and will announce the same shortly.
