Venkat Prabhu, fresh from the success of Chennai 600028, launched his second venture Saroja today.
The launch was a gala affair with Kollywood’s most successful directors including K. Balachander, Maniratnam, Shankar, Ameer, Lingusamy, Cheran, Balaji Sakthivel, Seeman, Thankar Bachan coming on stage to wish the Saroja team the very best.
The other notable Kollywood bigwigs were A.V.M. Saravanan, Ibrahim Rowther, S. P. Balasubramaniam, actors Vishal, Shaam, Karthi and Sandhya.
Venkat Prabhu’s dad, Gangai Amaran, whose birthday falls tomorrow, was wished in advance by his long-time friend S.P. Balasubramanium.
The cast and crew of the film were present during the launch. One notable absentee was composer Yuvanshankar Raja, who could not make it as he was rerecording for Billa, which is set to hit the screens very soon.
Saroja is slated for release by May 2008.
