Shalini's acting career began as a child artist through Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku for which she won the Kerala State Award (Best child artist). Shalini and her sister Shamlee ruled the roost as popular child artistes in most of the films released during the eighties. Shalini stopped acting after doing 95 films. Again, her career restarted with a flourish through the Malayalam movie Aniyatha Piravu as well as its Tamil remake Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, both box-office hits.
She became the most natural performer and a favourite of the masses. Her career followed a glorious trajectory, spanning the three languages-Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. While at the peak of her career, she married 'Ultimate Star' Ajith and took a break from acting.
Alai Paayudhe was the high point in her career, a Maniratnam movie in which she starred with the sensational Maddy. The movie and her performances still bring back poignant memories to many. After giving up acting, Shalini indulged in her latest passion, badminton. She became a State Level player and participated in tournaments. Her brother Richard is also an actor.Now she is an expectant mother. This release is due any day!
