Writer Sujatha’s death has left many of Kollywood’s celebrities in a state of shock. The late writer was quite close with many of Kollywood’s best filmmakers including Mani Ratnam and Shankar.
Director Shankar has been collaborating with Sujatha ever since Indian. Sujatha’s powerful dialogues adorn Shankar’s films like Indian, Mudhalvan, Boys, Anniyan, Sivaji and his yet-to-start Robot. In fact, Robot was very close to the heart for Sujatha who revolutionised Tamil literature with his scientific novels. He had even mentioned that Shankar’s script for Robot was even better than Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence in one of his columns.
Shankar has sent out a message condoling the loss of his favourite writer. “I can never forget the discussions that I had with Sujatha. He would beautifully analyse my narrative and point out the weaknesses. He was both a friend and guide to me,” says Shankar in his message.
“Whatever my problems, I would call him and he would solve them in no time,” Shankar says adding that the writer used to consider him as his own son. His policy was always to take things cool and easy. But, I cannot bear his loss in the same spirit,” concludes a tearful Shankar.
