However, we are now presented with the opportunity to catch this mature star on the small screen. Before you sigh in exasperation, thinking "One more teary soap!", we must say that this is different.
Produced by Pyramid Saimira and titled 'Simran Thirai', this is a mini-mega serial! Confused? Well, one serial lasts just for a month. Twelve such serials are to be televised. The only binding factor will be Simran. She will be the protagonist of each serial. Pyramid Saimira plans to rope in individual writers for each episode, so that every serial is totally disjointed from the others.
Mr. P.S. Swaminathan, Managing Director, Pyramid Saimira, said, “Television Content Industry has to undergo a serious mindset change if it has to retain its viewership. Already, boredom has set in with repetitive long-winding generational stories, portraying women as the worst villains possible. Pyramid Saimira believes in creating a paradigm shift in whatever it does and this series will be a start of such a change, showcasing creative talents in a tight script and a fast-paced execution.” This is indeed a welcome break from the increasingly tiresome mega serials that tend to drag on for years together!
Simran Thirai will be aired on Jaya TV from March 3rd, 2008 during the prime time of 8.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. Simran will portray a variety of roles that will showcase the diverse dimensions of the modern day woman.
