If every one is just amazed to see how Sivamani drums, there is an inspiring story behind it, the tale of a passionate drummer who was overjoyed when someone offered to guide and help him. Even if he did not get any classical training, he found success as a self-taught percussionist who started his life as a drummer. He claims his love for percussion stared from the time he heard his mother's heartbeats when he was in her womb. Hence Sivamani cannot help but be passionate when he happens to see promising young talent.
"I want to make it as easy as I can for talented youngsters. Let children experience the joy of music. There is so much you can do today if you have will and skill," says Sivamani, the best drummer in the world. Sivamani has a long-cherished dream for children; to open a school for percussion and instrumental music in Chennai. "I am looking for a suitable plot of land and government support. The school will be like the gurukuls of yore... thatched roof, surrounded by greenery, classes under trees, accessible masters. That is the ideal learning atmosphere. You can hardly feel the music in an air-conditioned room," he says.
His next project, an ambitious one, is to bring together and train 10,000 drummers from all over Tamil Nadu for a record breaking-show. "I plan to enter the Guinness Book of Records," he revealed. He is also working on a unique album of meditative rhythms.
This drum wizard is also excited about his next album 'Mahaleela' which tracks his journey from childhood till date. The album will feature some pieces on the important incidents in his life. All the best, Sivamani!
