Actress Sharanya Bhagyaraj was yesterday admitted to Malar Hospital after allegedly attempting suicide. Family members rushed the actress to the hospital in Adyar where the actress is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment.
While family sources vehemently deny this news, hospital sources indicate that it was a clear case of attempted suicide. The reason for the suicide attempt is still unclear, with some sources blaming love failure as the reason for the extreme step.
It seems Sharanya was in love with an NRI since one year. However, the relationship could not continue when he refused to marry her. Sources say the actress has been in a depressed state ever since. They also add that the actress has attempted to end her life twice already, but was saved by the timely intervention of her family members.
Daughter of well-known filmmaker and actor K. Bhagyaraj and actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, Sharanya debuted opposite Prithviraj in the sleeper hit Parijatham, directed by her father. Despite a successful debut, the actress could manage to get only two more acting offers. She is doing the film Dhik Dhik with Mumtaj in Tamil and has signed a film in Malayalam.
