Jackie Chan, who came to participate in the audio launch of Dasavathaaram (also refered to as Dasavatharam, Dasavataram), won the hearts of all with his cherubic smile and cute mannerisms.
When he came in, he bowed to the audience and guests in the Asian style several times, showing how much he valued his culture. Then when he found some bits of papers and litter on the stage, he immediately picked them up and dropped them in the dust bin, leaving everyone astonished. That shows how humble, easygoing, and disciplined he is. He wore that cherubic smile on his face all the time. He kept asking his neighbouring guests for the meaning of the speech in Tamil and applauded the speech. Sometimes, he even took his cue from the people and applauded, sometimes he grasped the meaning from the tone and body language of the speaker. He later described how difficult Tamil is for him but that he was determined to learn it - like he learnt English - if he accepted any project in collaboration with Kamal. He interacted with grace and displaying a bond that could exist only between long-term friends with everyone, right from Chief Minister Karunanidhi to the usher who guided him in.
During his speech too, he spoke, laughed, clapped at his own wit, repeated some punch dialogues, and kept all members of the audience mesmerized. Even people who did not understand a word he spoke were convinced he was happy to be here and spoke of the experience in the highest of terms!
In short, he came, he saw, he conquered.
